A Wedding to Remember: Fern’s Bouquet and the Bond That Made It Special

I’ve known Fern for over 25 years. To say she’s been a big part of my life would be an understatement. From helping me with my kids when she was just a kid herself, to the dramatic humor she brought into her teenage years, Fern has always been someone special to me. I was lucky enough to watch her grow up, but there came a time when she needed to go off into the world. When she went to NYU to study acting, I went through a “Fern withdrawal” period, but in my heart, I knew she was meant for bigger things. It was clear that she needed to be in the world, and I couldn’t wait to see where that would take her.

Fern’s New Life in the Hudson Valley

Now, Fern is living in the Hudson Valley, New York, with her husband Kevin and their dog Sunday. Watching her build a life with someone who truly understands her is a joy. Kevin is a perfect match for her, and they’re creating a life full of love, adventure, and all the things Fern deserves. I couldn’t be more proud of the woman she’s become.

The Honor of Doing Fern’s Flowers

When Fern asked me to do the flowers for her wedding, I was overjoyed. But I knew right away that her wedding wasn’t going to be traditional, and her bouquet would have to reflect that. Fern has always been full of ideas and creative energy, especially when it comes to dressing up and trying out new looks. So, I knew I had to step up my game and design something unique for her.

A Bouquet Like No Other

I decided to try something different—something bold and beautiful. I used a method by Susan McLeary from @passionflowersue, creating a wire-constructed bouquet that would flow and sway as Fern walked down the aisle. It wasn’t just a bouquet, it was a piece of art that reflected Fern’s personality—elegant, but full of movement and energy.

The beauty of the design didn’t stop there. This bouquet had a hidden surprise: it could transition into a headpiece for the after-party. This was a nod to all those times Fern would come to me as a child, asking for help with costumes and dress-ups. It felt like those memories came full circle.

Full Circle Moments

What made this bouquet truly special was the way it represented Fern’s journey. It wasn’t just about the flowers, but the memories we shared and the growth we both experienced. It was a reflection of Fern’s uniqueness and creativity—a perfect fit for someone who has always lived life boldly and authentically.

Featured in Vogue—A Dream Come True

Being featured in Vogue for this wedding was an absolute dream. Here is the full article! To see Fern’s special day showcased in such a beautiful way felt surreal. But the best part for me was knowing that I had contributed something personal and meaningful to her wedding. For me, Fern’s wedding wasn’t just a celebration of her and Kevin—it was a celebration of our long history together, and that made it all the more unforgettable.

Cheers to Fern and Kevin

Here’s to Fern and Kevin, and their gorgeous life. I wish them a lifetime of love, laughter, and all the beauty the world has to offer. And I’ll always treasure the memory of being able to create something so special for Fern—a reminder that flowers, like the people in our lives, can change and evolve, making every moment even more memorable.
